FAQ's
Top athletes use coaches to maximise performance and so do 25 to 40 per cent of Fortune 500 companies—to set goals, make better decisions, take action, and move forward more quickly.
#1 Tennis player in the world Roger Federer uses a coach for support, feedback, sounding board, and for drawing out his best mental and physical game. In fact, Federer has a whole team of people supporting him in being #1 - coach, physiotherapist, massage therapist, sponsors, fans, and girlfriend who provides emotional support as well as organises his public appearances.
Roger didn't get to number one and then get a support team; he got a support team and then they took him to number one.
Who's on your support team? How are they supporting you? Are they taking you to your #1 game?
If you ready to play your own best game, then you are ready for coaching. |

Is coaching guaranteed to work? |
Coaching will produce results if the person being coached is committed to putting in effort.
Coaches can’t make you perform to maximum capacity—that’s up to you. Coaches can, however, provide the support you need to get there, and help you get there faster.
So will coaching work for you? It will if you are: - honest with yourself and your coach
- prepared to close the gap between what you have now and what you want for the future
- prepared to change your thinking, attitudes and behaviours
- ready to invest in your most important asset—you
- are committed, prepared to ‘give it a go’ and have faith in the process

Is coaching the same as counselling? |
No. While coaches and clients develop confidential relationships, just as counsellors and clients do, the similarities end there.
Counselling tends to focus on the past and work to the present. It is about therapy, healing old wounds and resolving old patterns.
Coaching focuses on the present and works to the future. It is about strategies and actions to get you to the next level, professionally or personally. |
Coaching is process-oriented and energy based. It focuses on 'debugging your human software'; this means getting rid of the fears, worries, struggles that are holding you back from achieving what you want.
Your coach will ask questions to make you think and reflect. Your coach will listen carefully and act as a sounding board, resource, clarifier, cheerleader, and personalised teacher.
Good coaches provide honest feedback in a respectful, supportive and unconditional way. They also challenge and educate. |

What makes a great coach? |
Use this checklist as a guide. A great coach should: √ be experienced √ clearly explain their coaching approach √ provide references √ be honest and forthright √ be absolutely confidential |
How long do I have to stay in coaching? |
Most people hire a coach for a minimum of three months, many for a year and some for several years (think about athletes who have coaches throughout their career). Other people prefer to benefit from coaching during a weekend workshop.
The general rule of thumb is that it it feels good, keep doing it. |
